Riding the warm thermal currents of the air is perhaps the closest man has ever come to sailing Para-Gliding. The skies as free as a bird. Almost at will, you dip and wheel high over the hills and valleys. The bald peak of Billing, above the Buddhist monastery of Bir in Kangra, has been the venue for five national and three international hang-gliding rallies since 1984. The site is perfect for para-gliding too. And this sport is a mix of sky-diving and hang-gliding. A fairly recent sport that is steadily gaining popularity, This is one of the most beautiful jeep able routes in the Kangra valley situated at a height of about 9500 ft from the Minimum See Lable. 35Kms from Palampur is Bir Town known for the Buddhist monasteries and 14 km from here is the famous aera sport site of Billing. Up to Bir town you can travel by any vehicle. The 14 km distance from Bir to billing is actually a rock road, whose rock cutting was done way back in 1962. It is advisable that this distance be covered either by foot or if by a vehicle then Gypsy or the Mahindra  are best for therer.there is  one Guest house of the Forest Dept. as you can see in the image.  This guest house can be booked from bir in advance for over night stays. With food stock being a scarcity in this part of the Kangra valley.  This place is the originating point for hang and para gliders. You can fly up to chamba from here. The ariel view of the chamba and kangra valleys are really breathtaking. this is also good place for trekking and adventure
